The term “holobiont” describes a group of organisms creating a system of symbiotic relationships that results in a “superorganism.” In this space, each work becomes a testimony of the constant symbiosis, not only between organisms, but between individuals and their environments, between culture and its inherent nature.

The nine selected artists seek, through their distinctive languages, the reconfiguration of the contemporary body: an entity whose identity unfolds beyond its physicality to embrace a series of connections that redraw the maps of the personal and the collective.

In this union, the body and its environment are not delineated as separate realities, but as force fields in constant interaction, resonating with the theory of the holobiont, that ‘superorganism’ composed of countless others. Geopolitical reality constitutes a medium whose affection is born from the physical, therefore, Holobionte collects a sample of this collective of artists related to the Andalusian territory who build a landscape of substances where their borders have an ambiguous definition.
