Apartment Renovation

Project:
Situated in a prestigious area of Málaga, close to the beach and city center, this project rejuvenates Mediterranean architecture with a contemporary lens, aiming to infuse local significance into a historic residential complex, Casas de Cantó (built 1949-51). The design philosophy, termed "Neomediterranean" by the architect, integrates traditional materials like terracotta and pine with modern design elements to create a sophisticated and comfortable living space.

The living area serves as an exhibition space for the architect's and artist Irene Molina's works, juxtaposing digital art with the seascape visible through the windows. The kitchen, with its sea-facing island, maintains the structural integrity of the original building, ensuring free movement and optimal cross-ventilation. The bathroom features locally crafted marble pieces that bring nature indoors, and the bedroom, with its east-facing bed, offers daily sunrises, enhancing the home's dramatic and experiential quality.
